As I was writing this post, I noticed there’s some parallels with last year’s Shizuoka Hobby Show. The RG reveal was another red suit: the RG Sinanju (last year was Astray Red Frame). Regarding the RG Sinanju, there wasn’t anything on show to convince me to get one, since I already have the HGUC version. The gold trimmings are separate chrome parts, though. Also noticed the display kit was incredibly glossy for some reason.
Another similarity was the Hyaku Shiki. Last year we had the MG version; this year it’s the HGUC Hyaku Shiki Revive version. The plastic is not chrome plated, but a rather cheese-yellow hue. It’s good news given the last chrome plated kit I had (HGUC Delta Gundam) was such a fingerprint magnet.
Other planned releases were not so interesting: MG Fullarmor Gundam (Thunderbolt), HGUC Full Armor Unicorn (Red Psychoframe), HG Gundam Local type(?) (Origin MSD) and some strange Figurise Busts from Gundam Ironblood orphans.
In fact, the P-Bandai releases seemed more interesting. There’s gonna be a RE/100 Efreet Schneid, MG Hyaku Shiki Kai, MG Powered GM, some real-type HGUC kits (Gouf, RX-78, Guncannon), RG Astray Gold Frame, among others.
The Little Armory section at the Tomytec booth had some pleasant surprises. There’s the already announced future releases: AA-12 and M870 shotguns, M24 sniper rifle and Type 89 assault rifle. Next on the list seems to be the M134 minigun and a mortar. I wasn’t expecting a motorcycle though, but there it was: a 1/12 scale KLX250 (JSDF use).
I don’t want to stuff this post with too many photos, so I’ll continue with the rest from the modeler’s circle in the next post.
