Little Armory AKM assault rifle
Aaah, the AK. The quintessential bad guy gun. For such an iconic weapon, I’m surprised it took this long for a Little Armory release. This kit is actually the AKM, a modernized version of the classic AK-47. Anyway, like the previous Little Armory MP7A1, this kit allows you to build a pair of AKM assault rifles.
As you can see below, they’re identical except for the magazines. There’s no bells & whistles too, just straight up Kalashnikov. At least the safety latch is moveable.
Sizewise, it’s longer than the M4A1, and comparable to the Zaku machine gun’s length.
The parts for this kit already come in the correct color. So even without painting, you can get the AK look straight out of the box.
For me though, I wanted to add some variation to this build. So for one of the AKs, I sprayed the stock, grip and foregrip with dark brown and all other parts with german gray.
For the other pair, I left the brown plastic colors as they are, but I drew some wood grain lines on them using a brown, fine-tip Gundam marker. The rest of the parts were sprayed with gunmetal. To add a weathered look to the AKs, I dabbed some black weathering pastel on the stock and magazines. So here’s how they look like:
And some action shots with Mr Skeleton Warrior and GM Ground type:
I really like that you get a pair of AKMs with this kit; it fits well with the cheap, mass production ethos of the real thing. Even though there no extra accessories, at least they provided different types of magazines. It’s pretty detailed and easy to assemble too. Overall I’m pretty satisfied with this Little Armory release.
