Introduction:

The Heavy Weapon System (HWS) is an add-on kit for the MG Nu Gundam ver.Ka. It’s also available as a bundle with the MG Nu Gundam Ver.ka. It consists of a huge shield, a hyper mega rifle, a chest missile launcher, front skirt armors and side leg thrusters.

Materials & methods:

No mods here, just straight to painting:
White parts: Gaianotes Neutral Gray I
Dark blue parts: Gaianotes Prism Blue Black, followed by a thin layer of purple
Internal parts: Gunmetal
The kit comes with its own waterslide decals and after applying them, I finished with flat topcoat.

Discussion:

The HWS parts really add a lot of bulk to the Nu Gundam. The hatch on the chest and legs can open, and underneath the front skirt armor there’s an appendage that holds a beam sabre.
While the shield and rifle look very nice, it’s near impossible to get a nice action pose with them. With that kind of mass & volume, the effects of gravity becomes more prominent. As a result, the HWS Nu Gundam is basically a statue; albeit a nice-looking one.
